What's different
EV service isn't car service
Electric vehicles have a fundamentally different service profile from petrol cars — not just in what they need, but in what they don't. A general workshop without EV training and equipment will miss the things that matter.
- Regenerative braking recovers energy on deceleration, so brake pads last far longer than in a petrol car — meaning fewer brake jobs, but the workshop still needs to know how the system interacts with the friction brakes.
- There is no engine oil, no oil filter, and no cambelt — so the routine service list shrinks significantly and costs less on consumables.
- Battery health diagnostics require specialist equipment and EV-trained technicians; a standard OBD reader won't give you the full picture on cell balance or thermal management.
